Behind The Scenes Of A Queensland Instameet

Even after the success of the statewide Instameets held across Queensland last October, I still get asked “What is an Instameet?”. Here is a little peak at what went on at the recent Queen Mary Falls Instameet.
An Instameet is basically a group of photographers or Instagram enthusiasts getting together for a photo walk, to experience a location together or to learn from each other. The best break down of an Instameet can be seen in this link –

Recently, the team at @Queensland in conjunction with @QLDparks and @SQcountry held an Instameet at the impressive Queen Mary Falls near Killarney, just 2.5hrs drive west of Brisbane.
There was a great turn out with people making the trip from Brisbane and Gold Coast to join in on the short hike around the circuit and we had a range of photography styles shared.
From the silky smooth long exposures by @mcguigan_visuals..
To the silly shenanigans of @sosarina and the rare rock wallaby..
Here is a fun little video from behind the scenes of the Instameet starring the hilarious @kay_lah_. I filmed this entirely on my iPhone 6 using the hyper lapse app and edited with iMovie. Try not to get the music stuck in your head! Don’t forget to crank the quality up to HD and enjoy 🙂
If you want to go along to an Instameet near you, chances are the is a community that hosts them. Whichever city you’re in, start by logging in to Instagram and searching @igers*cityname*. For example @igersbrisbane or @igerssydney. Or your city/state’s tourism board might host them also. Don’t be shy and go along to one! Have fun 🙂
